Mobile learning means any learning that takes place via mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets via an app. This often uses didactic microlearning, i.e. learning in small units and one by one.

In its market analysis published in 2015, MarketsandMarkets analyst points out that the international mobile learning market only developed about a decade ago and is therefore growing strongly. Companies and universities are increasingly requesting this, with the acceptance of learners in industrialized countries being significantly higher than in emerging markets.
