Abidjan/Berlin | An eLearning market on the African continent that has so far been comparatively small on a global scale and difficult to quantify in terms of turnover is emerging. But here, too, the work of various initiatives has led to an increase in significance. The government of the Ivory Coast is currently preparing the 14th “eLearning Africa” conference together with the German company ICWE, which will take place from 23 to 25 October in the Sofitel Abidjan Hotel. The organizers are giving learning via eLearning central relevance for the future, the motto for the planned meeting being “The keys to the future: learnability and employability”. Numerous education and technology experts are expected as speakers, who will investigate the question of how young Africans in particular can acquire the necessary skills and abilities in the world of work as quickly and effectively as possible.
The government of Côte d’Ivoire is also planning to modernize specific learning techniques in education and training in the coming years beyond the conference by means of investments.
The founder of the eLearning Africa conference series, Rebecca Strohmeyer from ICWE, dares to take a look into the future: “In future, the ability to learn and to receive targeted further training will be just as important as the ability to pursue a specific profession”. There is great potential in Africa because the population is extremely flexible and open to new ideas, Strohmeyer continues.
