According to a new analysis by the Indian market research company “HTF Market Intelligence”, the teaching of students will increasingly take place in virtual schools worldwide. While the global market for virtual schools according to “HTF Market Intelligence” amounted to USD 2390 million in 2018, HTF expects the market to grow to USD 4920 million by the end of 2024. This would result in an average annual growth rate of 12.8% between 2019 and 2024. “HTF Market Intelligence” uses various statistical sources to analyze and forecast market developments.
From a global perspective, virtual schools are most widespread in the USA. This is pointed out by “HTF Market Intelligence”. As a result, the USA had a market share of 93.2% in 2017, followed by Canada with 3.8%. The European Union did not even reach a market share of 1% in 2017. According to HTF, virtual schools are likely to gain popularity especially in Japan and China. In Germany, the “School of Distance Learning Niedersachsen”, opened in 2012, is only a model project for a virtual school in which pupils from seven East Frisian islands and the small town of Esens no longer have to resort to face-to-face instruction and can thus save themselves the hassle of traveling. But there are other reasons why users should already benefit from visiting virtual schools today. No matter whether it is a matter of defending against mobbing attacks suffered at regular schools from the students’ point of view, improving the handling of chronic illnesses and corresponding downtimes, or a high level of travel activity, for example as a celebrity – the advantages of the virtual school always have an impact.
